Genesis Product Roadmap Revealed
The revealing information comes by way of The Korean Car Blog, which was on hand during a Hyundai presentation where the Genesis’ product roadmap was revealed. The presentation further reveals the timetable for each model with the first one – the G90 full-sized luxury sedan – already penciled in to hit the market this year. Once the G90, which effectively takes the place of the Hyundai Equus, debuts, Genesis will turn its attention towards the G80 mid-sized luxury sedan and the “entry-level” G70 sedan. Both models are due to be released by 2017, although which of the two will be released first is still up in the air. From there, Genesis will prepare its two SUV offerings, with the first one being the mid-sized luxury SUV followed by its entry-level counterpart. Not much is known about the SUV models at the moment.
Bookending the company’s six-model lineup will be a luxury sports coupe that is scheduled to hit the market by 2020. Like the SUVs, there are no specifics on this model just yet, but there have been rumblings that it could be based on the Hyundai Vision G Concept that the Korean automaker unveiled at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance. The large, fastback-style design of the Vision G and the well-appointed interior fit into the characteristics of a luxury sports coupe that Genesis is looking to line up against the likes of the Mercedes S-Class Coupe and perhaps even the Bentley Continental GT.
